Skin is a delicate part of our body, it needs constant care and good proper hygiene. If not treated well, skin cancer can develop.

There are two most common types of skin cancer that can develop on any person, any time. These two skin cancer are the Melanoma Skin Cancer and Basal Cell Carcinoma.

Melanoma Skin Cancer is considered the most serious type of skin cancer since anyone can be possibly hit with this kind of disease. Every year, cases of melanoma skin cancer are increasing in number hitting about 120,000 people. There are four types of Melanoma, three of them may become invasive while the other one is already invasive from the beginning. The three types are superficial spreading which is the most common since it is often seen in young people, lentigo maligna which is similar to superficial spreading type except it appears on the elderly, and the acral lentiginous. The invasive type from the beginning is called nodular melanoma and can only be found in ten to fifteen percent of cases of skin cancer. Melanoma Skin Cancer often occurs in unmarked skin which can be easy to detect.

The skin cancer symptoms are evident based on changes to existing moles or lesions. When there are changes in moles or other marks on the skin, it could be a sign of melanoma. An ABCDE rule which stands for A for Asymmetry, B for Border, C for Color, D for Diameter, and E for Evolving should be done to check the marks on the body. Symptoms like itching, bleeding or crusting are danger signs. If you have the symptoms of Melanoma, visit your doctor for a skin cancer treatment.

The other type of skin cancer is Basal Cell Carcinoma, it is a form of skin cancer that is non-melanoma type and grows slowly over time. It mostly occurs in Caucasian people. The skin cancer causes are due to overexposure to radiation or even sunlight. The people who always use tanning beds are susceptible to Basal Cell Carcinoma. If there is a growth or bump in skin that looks shiny, waxy, and pearly, it can be a symptom of Basal cell Carcinoma. Other symptoms include open sores that look crusty and patches of skin with concave appearance. To prevent skin cancer, avoid direct exposure to sunlight and be sure to eat healthy foods to stop the disease from spreading.
